Writing today’s post from Italy on my birthday in a total state of happiness! Emma is asleep next to me, my boyfriend is flying in from Amsterdam, I am getting ready to go out to celebrate with my friends and family, and a birthday trip to Venice is coming on Monday.
As a thirty-something girl, together with my lifestyle, also my style is adjusting and becoming more stable. This means less trend-experimenting and more awareness of what my own style is about. If you ask me what I will be wearing this spring summer I answer, without a shadow of a doubt, my closet will be made of denim, whites, black and tan colours. I went through a lot of ‘fashion stages’ and it took me about thirty years to become so firm on my own taste but there are some combos that never get olds.
Denim on denim.
While it’s tempting to wear my boyfriend jeans all day every day, it doesn’t hurt to shape up the denim game introducing a skirt and pairing it with a different wash denim shirt and statement OTK boots. Finally, I am not the kind of girl who likes to look too sexy, especially during the day, so I felt very comfortable adding a black knit to dress down the entire look and giving a chic touch added by the gold details.
Among leather layering and counting down the days to a more summer bohemian dress code (will be spending great part of my summer in Italy this year), I am still in the city, enjoying the transitional weather and ready to show you more of my favourite spots!
It’s been just over a month I took you around Amsterdam (in case you missed last episode it’s here) inside the warm glass houses of the botanic garden enjoying the lovely tropical temperature, in the middle of city cactus heaven.. Today is time for some culture.. I take you to a museum!
As third and last episode of this little tour with OtterBox around my favourite Amsterdam places, I chose to take you to the Scheepsvaart museum. As difficult to pronounce as it sounds, for the non-dutchies like me, it is the National Maritime Museum. The building is spectacular and indeed, surrounded by the seaside.
If you think this looks great from the outside, wait until you see the interior!
I would really recommend you a visit, not only for the museum itself if you are interested in maritime paintings and impressive display of model yachts, but also for the whole experience of a lovely walk along the water from the city centre and this building architecture. I fell in love with the main courtyard area and its incredible intricate glass roof!
Sartorially speaking, the bare legs season has started and I have been enjoying it already since the fashion month with over the knee boots. It’s the perfect alternative until we will be all ready to show some tan, plus they can upgrade any outfit adding a chic touch. I styled them with a shearling vest to still keep warm but in a spring look and would easily work for a night out just by changing the vest for a black blazer.
I accessorised the look with gold, leopard print and black. Still my same old phone – as old as 5 months old – as main accessory.. considering the amount of time I spend on social media, the zillion of photos I take, the non-stop messaging and the way too many time it drops on the floor thanks to my little one who now just wants to be like mommy – typing on her phone – shame on me!
But this gig is still going on thanks to OtterBox who always takes good care of my essentials, aka iPhone, in a stylish way with the symmetry series clear case in black.
Together with bare legs season, spring brings back the roof terrace season. So while in the area, I couldn’t resist a walk along the seaside to the Hilton Hotel roof top to enjoy the sun, a breathtaking view of the city and indeed my cappuccino!
And when you think its over, it’s not just yet!
I put together a video of the best moment of the last 3 episodes around this beautiful city and in the best company, of my well protected phone!
I am back from two fashion weeks in a row and I must say Milan was my absolute favourite! If you ask me, I still haven’t had enough.. I would be in Paris by now.. But mommy duty was calling, so Paris will have to wait until next season!
Together with my bestie Lorna we enjoyed the best spots that Milan had to offer, the chicest cafes, the breathtaking Duomo view and photographed by every possible angle, especially from the Aperol terrazza with an aperitivo in hands ;), and the best of the Italian fashion of course. In case you missed all the action you can follow up on my Instagram and on the OtterBox blog.
During my first day in Milan, I was dressed by Zelle Studio in these fabulous two pieces, top and leather vest. Two of my fashion week favourites and real signature pieces for my coming spring wardrobe.
I love the details of the top, its movement in particular, as well as the contrast of the mesh main fabric and the faux-suede fringe details. I am planning to wear it again soon with denim and sneakers being the perfect piece to add a chic touch to a casual outfit. To finish the look and to add a less feminine touch to the mini skirt and over the knee boots combo I chose this structured leather vest. I never owned a leather vest before and I must have been living under a rock! It is the perfect transitional piece, it is timeless and versatile and can be worn from now until those chilly summer night will come.
The outfit was the right amount of comfort and statement pieces which really allowed me to enjoy Milano and walk around the city centre but at the same time adding that special details I wanted to wear around the shows.
