One of the trends I am really liking this season and I was very excited to try, is wearing a suit with trainers, in a very casual way! Wearing a suit with trainers, dressing it down and make it wearable for the every day life. Not just office life anymore!

We’ve been wearing blazers, since a couple years ago, in combination with a simple white t-shirt, and already was my cup of tea! In general, we may think, of course, that suits are more for formal or business wear. However, nowadays a simple addition of a casual top and sneakers, can easily make it very cool! Suits can change from formal to everyday wear with sneakers very easily and still keeps you very chic!

Personally,  I really love trends with a masculine touch such as suits, blazers and trousers. I mix it with casual pieces, mostly sneakers, t-shirts and knits and it can really give you a more comfy feeling for every day wearing. It does look more stylish than a pair of jeans, but keeps the same easiness.

You can take a traditional suit you already own and make it more interesting and fun with the ‘suit with trainers’ combo, or you can take a look at the ones I’ve selected below!

I am curios to know how you like this trend!!

nickyinsideout - chunky sweaters - shopping - outfit - fall winter fashion

Yes! I am guilty of calling myself a fashionista and I do like to follow (almost) all the fashion rules of the season. Veeery guilty! I try the trend, sometimes I embrace it 100%, sometimes it’s not for me and I let it go. The current hot trend of oversized chunky sweaters,  sometimes translated in “excessive”, however, is quite the first option for me.  There is no scare in the “too big”, when combined correctly, the result will be totally  worth it!

Chunky sweaters are one of the current pieces of clothing that are very popular, especially with a playful neckline: off the shoulder, turtle neck, backless.. and the basic formula is the bigger the better!!

The one I am wearing in the picture is from Acne Studios and it’s the most versatile of all the chunky sweaters I even own. I can wear it off the shoulder or with a loose turtle neck layered with a blazer. I can tuck it in jeans for a more casual look or wear it over skinny jeans. Without mentioning how warm it is!! These are the kind of pieces I like to invest in! Like it was the coat I was wearing last week you all loved so much on my Instagram. I should actually wear them together!!

Chunky sweaters are a must for your wardrobe this season as a very comfortable fashion stall that should not be missed in your wardrobe. With falling temperatures, you will surely appreciate it because the biggest advantage is that you will be for sure very warm (much needed in Amsterdam!!).

I like the ‘oversized mood’ because creates a contrast that looks very stylish! It is not difficult to find simple, cozy versions that are extremely comfortable and soft, and above all, stylish. There are so many interesting versions I cannot wait to build an outfit around it.

I have linked 20 outstanding chunky sweaters for you I am loving right now:

If you are like me, one coat is not enough to go through the cold days, all day, every day.. but there is a print I am never getting tired of, the check print coat. The coat is the centrepiece of our winter wardrobe. It’s the item we end up wearing the most during the winter season. So, why the xxx would we only wear one!

  nickyinsideout -check print coat - shopping - winter fashion

The check print coat was already a big trend last spring but now it is coming back as a must have in our closets. Whether it is a stylish blazer or a winter coat, it got my attention already! I’d say, get at least one check print piece in your wardrobe because this season belongs to this pattern!

The thing I also love about a check print coat, it’s that it just looks amazing in any possible way. You can dress it up and down and you can easily combine it with anything else in your wardrobe. If you are wearing an evening look, it adds some sophistication, and if you wear it, like me, with sneakers, adds a touch of playfulness.

Don´t be afraid to invest in a proper check print coat because it is one of the most timeless and basic pieces you can have in your wardrobe. It will always find the way to come back as a big trend, so make space in your wardrobe and keep it there.

This is my favourite selection available to buy online at the moment:

Check print Coat: Asos | Berret: vintage | Knit: JOA | Necklace: By Alona | Bag: Gucci | Belt: Gucci |

Jeans: vintage Levi’s | Shoes: Converse x Comme des Garcons

Yellow is one of the biggest trends of the Fall and the mustard yellow in particular is my very favourite!

But first, a little personal life update..

nickyinsideout - shopping - trend report - yellow - yellow sweater

Today is going to be my last day at the office for at least a week to concentrate on our big move! I can’t believe it’s finally happening.. and I can’t even imagine how busy and overwhelming the coming days will be! Packing, cleaning, organising, unpacking.. but finally we are going to move and I’ve been waiting for this time for the past 4 months!! I am going to share everything with you on my Instagram stories, so don’t forget to follow along! 🙂

Fall is one of my favourite seasons. I love the cooler weather that allows layering but still going out bare legs. And still not the Amsterdam freezing days! And I love wearing knitwear!

I already started picking a few key pieces for fall and have been loving yellow knits for the upcoming season, like the one I am wearing today (which I recently found at Topshop)!

Check out my top 5 picks below:

  • TOPSHOP: the one I am wearing. I fell in love with the seventies vibe of the big buttons and the mustard shade;
  • ASOS: a knitted ruffle jumper is a must have this fall;
  • RIVER ISLAND: a three quarter double frill sleeve in knit fabric is a great idea for a more dressy look. This one would look great with palazzo trousers and heels! And it’s on sale too!
  • SAMSOE & SAMSOE ON NA-KD: a golden yellow with braided and criss cross detailing and an oversized fit.
  • PRETTYLITTLETHING: I like the super ladder distress V neck. This one would look very cool layered with a simple white t-shirt and boyfriend jeans.

Looking forward to spring is about the only thing keeping us sane those never-ending dark winter days. Sartorially speaking, we all know spring wardrobe brings the needs of new dresses, sandals and maybe a new bag that works with the light colours of the season, right?

But what about those staples you want to invest in? Spring pieces we can wear again and again, mixing and matching to those temporary fashion trend? With Opus, I found all my answers on how to combine the two: staples and trends!   nickyinsideout - fashion - opus - shopping - spring trends - spring wardrobe - street style   I am not talking trends today, instead those must-have pieces that will provide you a basic foundation of your spring wardrobe:
  1. Oversized white shirt. This is absolutely an essential! Investing in a quality white shirt that you can wear alone with great accessories or layer like I did in this outfit. I prefer a loose one rather than fitted, I find it more flattering and gives you more room to play with the styling.

Trench coat. It’s just great to have a good quality trench coat in your spring wardrobe, being the perfect chic layering piece. I love how a sand colour trench coat looks over a casual outfit to make the look more dressy. It looks great over a white shirt and white jeans for a chic summer vibe. Literally every woman should own a good trench coat! Without the need of totally splurge, the one I am wearing from Opus is great quality and finishing and below 200€!!   nickyinsideout - fashion - opus - shopping - spring trends - spring wardrobe - street style   nickyinsideout - fashion - opus - shopping - spring trends - spring wardrobe - street style   nickyinsideout - fashion - opus - shopping - spring trends - spring wardrobe - street style   nickyinsideout - fashion - opus - shopping - spring trends - spring wardrobe - street style   3. Hoodie. This is a great alternative to a denim jacket and very trending this season! If you live a super casual lifestyle, you may want one in each colour! I am wearing mine a ton! I love this one in white because even being a very casual piece, the the light colour maintain it very chic!

Would love to hear how’s your spring wardrobe coming together! What are the pieces you can’t live without?

  Created in collaboration with Opus. Story, styling, photograpy and creative direction my own.
